I finished just over 2 years in Dublin and I remember wondering how quickly I would find a place which would be my regular haunt. While it used to be bars/clubs while younger, post covid, it was mainly a coffee shop. Providing not just good coffee, something I started appreciating thanks to Toops, but also a comfortable space with great service and vibes.Â
Hatch in Blackrock became that place.Â
I’ve been to a few cafes across Dublin. Proximity does play a big part in how at home you feel in a coffee shop and Hatch obviously was my neighbourhood cafe. But if I have to look at the objective reasons as to why I still go there even though my neighbourhood has now changed, it is mainly the 3 factors I’ve mentioned above.Â
The vibe and service is definitely great - fun, happy music, lovely staff who seem to want to be there and do their best. The open coffee bar and kitchen help bring trust in the fact that you are getting the best coffee and food possible. But what I truly appreciate at Hatch is the consistency in every cup of coffee and plate of food. The granola always looks and tastes the same. The pour over is made in front of you with the attention it needs, no matter how busy it is. The flat white always has the right amount of foam and is not too hot.Â

Hatch is the place I would go to on new year’s day to ensure I get the perfect coffee and breakfast and I start my day and year on a very happy note and I did just that in Jan 1st, 2025.Â
So whether you are in the neighbourhood or live in their neighborhood (Glastule or Blackrock), go to Hatch for that consistent and lovely cup of coffee, food and vibes!
